The countdown  for the T20 WC has begun, a few countries including India and Pakistan have announced their squads. In the Indian squad Tendulkar is missing because of his own decision to stay out of T20 format. In my opinion that is a big loss for team India.  As regards Pakistan team, the squad was announced more than a week ago and the name of the captain was withheld for some silly reason.  The PCB made a mockery of their decision not only by delaying the announcement of the Captain’s name but, creating more divisions, factions and groupings within the team by disclosing 4 names as probable candidates. The obvious choice was Shahid Afridi and the ultimate result is Shahid Afridi. So, what was the reason to create this mess? The PCB has proved that it is they who sow the seeds of groupings and division in the team. Why name 4 probable candidates when none other than Afridi are capable?

I think the whole captaincy hoopla was created only to get in Salman Butt and Misbah ul Haq in the 15 member squad.
Because, they were the other two candidates the PCB was mulling over their names as possible captains, so that way they crept in otherwise there was no other way for them to justify their inclusion in the 15 member squad. How ridiculous and absurd it is to even think of including them in the squad let aside considering them for Captaincy. There are two reasons they wanted them to get them in the side, first of all both of them are from Punjab and secondly, both speak better English than others. Neither of this is a criteria or a prerequisite to captain the side. Especially since their form is so “digustipatingly” pathetic.

Abdul Razzaq was another candidate for captaincy, he is a much better player than the other two especially if he clicks he could be dangerous. In the recent past he was kinda lost in translation, not only he lost the sting in his bowling but, his batting was totally off-colour and fielding was never his forte, he could compete with Mohammed Yousuf and Danish Kaneria in the fielding department. There was a time when Abdul Razzaq was in two minds and he demonstrated it by wearing a cap (reverse) and a helmet on top of it. Since he was not sure what to wear, he wore both.  Like, normally in the shorter version of the game he used long handle bats to slog but, in test matches he was using long handle to defend. Whatever that may be, he looked very confused after gavashing himself with loads and loads of spinach. Perhaps he saw too much of Popye The Sailor Man serial.  In any case he is not a captain’s material, he is meek, weak and submissive in leading the team. Although Afridi with his Akhroat brain was backing Abdul Razzaq as a logical choice in case he himself is not considered for captaincy. That is so Akhroatish of him to do that. Because, it is the job of the PCB to decide whom they want to appoint as captain and finally they did.

The other stupid thing the PCB did, in fact it is not really stupid but, it is very cunning and deceiving act by selecting the team before announcing the captain so that Afridi has no say in the team selection. In fact when Shahid Afridi asked the coaches and the selectors recently to review the team selection because he feels the need to make some changes and to have some say in team selection. But, they just gave him a lolly pop candy by saying: “OK next time, the captain will have his say.” Next time? Who knows what happens next time? In Pakistan everything changes so fast and what is good today is bad tomorrow, who knows whether Afridi will remain captain of the team or they may someone else? It is such a conniving and scheming act by the PCB mafia that they knew Afridi wouldn’t be able to put pressure on the because of the current situation in which he is owing to the ball biting incident and his weaker position to dictate and negotiate, they took this as an opportunity to sideline him and shove in nothing players like, Salman Butt and Misbah ul Haq in the team.

The only good thing that has happened in this team selection is, the team is sans Shoaib Malick the schemer and tactician and Rana Naveed, who can single-handedly give away the match to the opposition on a silver platter with his mediocre and pathetic bowling and fielding. I am glad that both these players are not in the squad. Although Malik may try to over turn the ban or reduce his sentence on parole by using his senator connections and his regional clout yet, there is no chance of him coming back in the WC squad, which is a good thing to keep the dressing atmosphere clean.

The players I don’t want to see in the team are Salman Butt and Khalid Latif.  I would include Imran Nazir (despite his pathetic form, hoping he will click in one of the crucial matches) the second one is Shahzaib Hasan Khan both as openers and I would like to see Mohammad Sami instead of Yasir Arafat. And, Misbah should go home along with Butt and Latif.

Although the selectors, coach and even some of the players are saying that Caribbean pitches will suit Pakistan team, but that is not true they had a disastrous WC in 2007 when they lost to the WI and then to Ireland. Especially against the Ireland the pitch had a very uneven bounce and Boyd Rankin ruined the Pakistani batting line up. However, this team may not do that i.e., lose against the likes of minnos such as Bangladesh, because this is not ODI, but T20 but, you never know because Bangladesh has some very good players these days especially Tamim Iqbal and Sakibul Hasan and they are capable of giving a tough time to Pakistan. The other team in Pakistan’s group is Australia and they have a mental block against Australia. On paper they have a better track record under Afridi’s captaincy in T20 when they lost to Pakistan in Dubai but, under Malik’s captaincy Pakistan lost to Australia. And, Australia are getting stronger by the day with some real good fast bowlers and hard hitting batsmen in their side. So, moving from first round to the second may not be a piece of cake for Pakistan and they must thank their stars that neither the West Indies nor Ireland are in their group.

Now, it is up to you guys to decide who should be in the playing XI and to predict which team will be in the top of their group and who will reach the semis and who will win the CUP?

Mohammad Yousuf set to retire from all forms of the game, formal announcement to come on Monday:

What a shame? When he broke Sir Vivian Richards record, he too deserved the Pride of Performance Award. But, no one thought about that and now he is disgraced by the PCB by imposing a life ban on him and he has to retire.

Waqar Younus hails the PCB decision for appointing Shahid Afridi as Captain of the Pakistan team for the T2o WC.

    Waqar salutes Afridi appointment

    March 27, 2010

Waqar Younis, the new Pakistan coach, has hailed the appointment of allrounder Shahid Afridi as captain for the World Twenty20 starting next month in the West Indies. The PCB installed Afridi at the helm earlier this week, after initially announcing the squad for the tournament without naming a captain.

JAVED A KHAN It is right decision from yousof. i think he should had retired last year or even earlier but its tradition in subcontinent that players dnt quit unless somone show them door. In case of yousaf in last 4 years or so he was more interested in tableegh than playing cricket no doubt he was the best batsman in team in last decade but he made wrong choices twice he turned his back on pak cricket and then he was one of the culprits who put relegious culture in team. Any how he wil b remembered for his batting and dazling cover drives. He definately deserves a pride of performance award.

Yousuf should have retired from T20 and may be ODI but, not from test for sure. Besides, he made those 9 test centuries and broke Viv Richards record 3-4 years ago and not a decade ago. The reason he turned his back and joined ICL was because of unfair treatment by the PCB. As regards religious practices, it was Saeed Anwar who started it and Inzamam enforced it, Yousuf is a pawn and a harmless creature, he was in the team and was playing his role as a batsman without influencing others. Inzamam was actually forcing others and whoever did not follow him he was mistreating them or dropping them from the side. I won’t blame Yousuf for his physical appearance because he is a revert and being a revert you follow the religion more vigorously than others. He never pushed or cornered anyone to follow him, because he himself didn’t know much so how could he challenge others?

In my view Shoaib Malik’s role is more sinister and more conniving than anyone else. In his case, there was always something more than what meet the eye. In fact it is he who should have got a life ban rather than just a year and Rs. 2M in fines. Because, the act committed by Shoaib Malik is equivalent to that of treason. He created mutiny within the team, revolting a rebellion and putting the national interest behind his personal gains is something that should be punished for life. He got away with a slap on his wrist. And, you will see, he will get a parole soon.

  6. #6 by JAVED A. KHAN on March 28, 2010 - 12:55 PM

Afridi is asking Yousuf not to retire, because he thinks that Yousuf is taking an emotional decision. Now, what does it mean?

Either Afridi is confident that his ban shall be lifted or, he thinks that the ban is not just and Yousuf must appeal and get it over turned by the court?

What he is preaching to Yousuf, he must also practice it himself. He should think of reversing his iown decision of not playing test cricket. He has just turned 30 this month so, he has at least 4-5 years of cricket remaining in him and test cricket is the real test of a player. Playing shorter version of the game does not hone the qualities of a player. His test average is better than many players and he must play test cricket it will also help him in focusing on the game for a longer period of time and improve his skills for the shorter version too. Because, Afridi by nature is an aggressive player and a big hitter, for him to curb his natural instincts may not be easy but, the test cricket will help him in slowing down a little bit and that is what is needed in Afridi.

JAVED A KHAN as regards as yousafs turning back on pakistan money was also a big factor along with unfair treatment his reaction was mainly cause he was droped frm t20 world cup squad. In the same world cup KALLIS was also dropped from sa team he never decided to go to icl. And when he decided to come back it was only cause pcb offered him lot of money. I knw malik and yousaf had problems but main issue was captaincy. Now do u realy think that yousaf was captaincy meterial. Then he started to fight with younis. I agree with u that malik should had banned 4 life also. But all these bans are buttheads drama to divert peoples attentions from his and pcb’s performance and eventuely they will turn these bans over on apeals. Afridi should play test cricket and if he dnt want to pcb should terminate his contract and dnt make him captain for shorter formats also.

  8. #8 by JAVED A. KHAN on March 28, 2010 - 9:25 PM

I agree with you on almost all the points that you have mentioned above, about Yousuf, Malik and Afridi. Because, I am also saying the same thing. If Afridi refuses to play test cricket, his central contract should be terminated and he should also not be playing T20 and ODI. He is not above the law.

I do agree that nothing players like Malik and Misbah should not be in the team.

As regards Yousuf joining ICL, it was not just him alone, from among the current team, Abdul Razzaq, Imran Farhat and Imran Nazir also joined ICL. The only reason DNA wanted to bring back Yousuf by paying ICL (the ransom) is because Yousuf was in top form in test cricket prior to that. I was also not in favour of Yousuf playing the T20 format because of his fielding and because he is not very aggressive, he can fit in the ODI’s but, I would still not consider him and Younus in ODI, both are good test players. And, Pakistan need them in the UK for this summer test matches and so should the Akhroat Afridi play in those test matches.

Salman Butt should play only test cricket but, he must change his technique and his attitude. Technically he is one of the worst batsman after Imran Farhat who edges the ball into the slips cordon. And Butt is also a very selfish player like Malik. So he needs to change his attitude and improve his fielding. Imran Farhat is there in all formats of the game because of his SASOOR JEE.

    2010-03-29 21:50:00

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik may tie the nuptial knot in April.

According to some Pakistani media reports, Sania and Shoaib have been in a relationship for the last six months. This had led to disruption in the Hyderabad girl’s earlier engagement to childhood friend Sohrab Mirza.

It is believed that Shoaib’s mother met Sania’s family in Hyderabad and finalized their marriage.

The wedding ceremony of both the sports stars will take place in April, while the walima reception will be hosted by Shoaib on April 16 or 17 in Lahore, The News reports.

Shoaib was earlier engaged to another Hyderabad girl, Ayesha Siddiqui.

Pakistan Cricket Board puts out a contract

    By Sohaib Alvi

    Friday, 26 Mar, 2010

The little hope of justice being meted out to the real destroyers of Pakistan cricket came and went with the three senators who have themselves bungled up the enquiry into the enquiry. Imagine a senator saying he has seen proof of matchfixing but can’t reveal it because Pakistan needs these players to win the world cup. (As well as a little cash on the side, senator?) Revealing the names will also damage the image of Pakistan cricket! Like PCB Board of Governors, Sport ministry, NA sports committee, and DG cricket, they too were silenced within days. After all it’s only a matter of selling out on your country.

The PCB has also suddenly taken interest in alleged financial misappropriation and the land given to army and judges. Why now, when this has been talked off for so long? Well, firstly, Dr. Nasim Ashraf has formed “Friends of Pakistan First” in US and brought in Gen. Musharraf to speak, so he has to be discredited at home and abroad. Secondly, Gen. Tauqir Zia is standing for LCCA top job which will challenge Ijaz Butt. So he has to be discredited for allotting PCB land in Karachi to Generals and Judges. Conveniently, the two institutions are given a bad name just when the government is trying to win over the public from them. So if you thought that justice is being done, think again. As always individual scores are being settled. Porbably that is why Chairman and DG were forced to hug and speak of each other as brothers.

However, the Chairman has relented to the pressure of naming Afridi as captain after trying their earnest to get Razzaq in for the job. He was planned for the position until the designs were exposed in the Dawn front page story that concurring individuals were being recruited to hold all top jobs in the World Cup with the power to influence ‘strategy’. So the captaincy had to be put on hold and eventually reversed as the cat was out of the bag.

Meanwhile the drone attacks on Karachi’s cricketers continue in full public view
. I have no Churchillan oratory or vision but like the British Bulldog who kept shouting that appeasement was unworkable as a strategy against Hitler, I had for long been foretelling a homogenous group which is moving to control our cricket resources. Had some drawing room execs like KCCA stood up at the right time instead of lifeless, occasional letter of discontent, we wouldn’t have seen an eight-member management and coaching team from only the eastern part of one province.

Among them is Ijaz Ahmed, a man currently out on bail; Waqar Younis, a man tainted by the Qayyum match fixing report and no team coaching experience; Yawar Saeed, the man removed after the revelation of bookies on the team’s floor; and Shafqat Rana, a former selector accused live on TV by a senior cricket journalist of accepting hefty bribe.

Wahab Riaz, the man named in the same bribe accusation, is in the Central Contracts which is amazing since he last played for Pakistan two years ago! He took 14 wickets at an unimpressive average of 40 in the QA trophy, was a sideliner in national ODI cup and Pentangular and after still being picked, took a few wickets for Pakistan A on their UAE tour in games against the England Lions. By contrast, Tanvir Ahmed of Karachi Blues became the leading wicket-taker in 2009-10 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with as many as 85 wickets at an impressive average of 17.12. He’s in stipends! Sami, (whose non-selection in the T20 squad itself is a mystery when we have all seen that Arafat has been useless at the international level despite being a continuous traveller), led Karachi to QA triumph, taking 38 wickets. He is not even among the stipends!! Mohsin Khan has come true to predictions. The man angry at this management when outside PCB, he has meekly accepted the contracted players. He makes noises of standing up for merit but when the time came he stood down. He has handed PCB the plea that the input of a Karachi based selector was taken. They knew he was a pushover. Waqar and Afridi have openly said that the chief selector did not consult them on the team and he has promised to do so in future. In effect it was the management who didn’t want to do so and Mohsin has become the fall guy. Someone like Rashid Latif would have forced merit in awarding contracts or resigned in protest and that is perhaps why they pick the meeker ones from Karachi. Miandad too keeps maintaining a silence with no comment on the bans and injustice to the Karachi players above. Interestingly, Faisal Iqbal, is in the contracted players. Every hug involves the patting of backs on both sides.

These two are silent not just on Sami but on Khalid Latif, Sarfraz Ahmed and Khurram Manzoor, successes on tour and potentially the future of Pakistan cricket from the port city, being booted into the stipends category. Only three of 17 contracts are for Karachi players. It has all become so blatantly obvious that even Senator Enver Baig was moved to scream that this cricket board belonged to just one province. Moin Khan says that all mid level permanent jobs, team management and coaching assignments are going to people in Lahore and surrounding cities. Both have risen long after the bugle call in these columns. Realizing the awareness of this issue has been created, they are coming out long after the horses have bolted.

Special interests seem to be active behind all selections and appointments. The Chairman and COO have for life been a hostage to their own incompetence but now it seems they are hostage to the masterminds who are using them to put in a team of questionable past and eventually leading to regional splits in Pakistan cricket. On one side ICC is watching and on the other national patriots like myself who still believes the greatest cricketer from our shores was Imran Khan, the most brave was Imtiaz Ahmed and that the most eloquent speaker on cricket in English and Urdu remains Rameez Raja.

The people in a once cricket nursery are saddened by the fact that the patron of PCB is letting this isolation happen to his own province and city. As President he should also see the injustice to Balochistan and NWFP when it comes to team management and jobs in PCB. Sports Minister Ijaz Jakhrani is silent on the lack of representation from his province. Even the political alliances of NWFP and Sindh are looking the other way, perhaps sacrificing their cricketers in pursuit of a bigger picture. Hope its worth a thousand cricketers.

Do you remember that Shoaib Malik interview by Nadia Khan? When she asked why he broke the marriage with Ayesha Siddiqi? He replied, my parents don’t want to marry a girl from Hyderabad India, but they want me to marry a Punjabi girl. Now, once again he is getting married to another Hyderabadi girl. The reason is Sania Mirza is a celebrity in India and she is internationally famous. Now, all that BHARAM about marrying only a Punjabi girl has vanished in thin air. Last year he was head over heels for Siyali Bhagat. The way this Duddoo Malik behaves, it is not likely that this marriage will last long, I am not a fortune teller but mark my words and see.

Thanks for inquiring about the Mongoose Bat. I didn’t read that info before but, this is what I found on Wiki: Did you watch the game in Dubai with the pink cricket ball?

    Mongoose Cricket Bat
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mongoose MMi3 Cricket Bat is a cricket bat specifically designed for Twenty 20 cricket. The design is unusual in that the blade is 33% shorter than a conventional bat and the handle is 43% longer. The manufacturer claims that this provides 20% more power and 15% more bat speed and gives the batsman an advantage.

This kind of a bat is smaller and lighter than the traditional cricket bat. The decreased length of the blade helps to reduce the bat’s weight while the long handle allows optimum reach to the batsman. The lightness of the bat helps in increasing the bat speed and allows the batsmen to hit the ball harder while batting. The manufacturers claim the change in the length of the blade does not affect the performance of the batsman in any way since it is the middle of the bat (the part which is located on the backside of the thick scoop of the bat) that is usually used for hitting the ball.

On 11 March 2010, Mongoose launched its range in India with the announcement of Matthew Hayden as an ambassador. Initially, the bat seemed not to work which much effectiveness. Hayden took out the Mongoose bat during the matches with the King’s XI Punjab and Royal Challenger’s Bangalore, and was out immediately, which ultimately led to his team into trouble. However, in another match with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the mongoose bat showed some promise with the shotplay, but Hayden was unfortunately run out.

The Marylebone Cricket Club declared the bat legal and permitted its use in India and worldwide. For the moment, 100 bats in two categories will be launched in India and all of them would be signed by Hayden, according to Fernandez [who??]. They are priced at between Rs. 17,000 and Rs. 23,000.

Stuart Law, the former Australian Test player, calls it “a half-brick on a stick”. However this remark may also have been attributed to Robin Jackman the English born South African based cricketing journalist. Law admits that he would think twice before using his sawn-off Mongoose against Steve Harmison. When the ball is flying around your nostrils, the shoulders of the old-fashioned bat have an important role to play. But he believes that on slow, low pitches – like the ones you encounter on the sub-continent, or in English club cricket – the Mongoose can double your power. Mike Haysman the South African cricketing journalist has also described it as looking like an awe.

Later, in India Fernandez [who??] declared that West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith has also signed a contract with them.

  17. #17 by JAVED A. KHAN on March 30, 2010 - 9:36 AM

Now, my comments on the Mongoose bat: I have positive views about it because, I had always preferred to play with lighter bats so that I can swing it faster and this bat is not only lighter but it has a shorter blade and a long handle it definitely helps in swinging it at a faster speed, the faster you swing the more chances are you connect the shot well and hit it well. So, I would go for it.

About Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik, you are asking who is lucky of the two? Obviously the Sialkoti Khota is more lucky ‘coz she is much more smarter than he is, I heard her interviews she seems to be more educated and have more finesse where as he is a paindoo. But the irony is she is falling for him. Anyways imo, this marriage may not last long, especially if Malik doesn’t play international cricket. One of my Punjabi friends was saying: first see how long this engagement will last? 😀 I think his comments are based on the previous episode of Malik and Ayesha the first wife whom he married on telephone and did not divorce. I wonder how the Siddiqui family will react to this news now? And, someone should ask Malik about the Siali Bhagat affair. Reportedly she dumped him after knowing that he is a Puppoo.

  18. #18 by JAVED A. KHAN on March 30, 2010 - 9:51 AM

Take a look at this picture and laugh out loudly, no wonder Siali Bhagat dumped this Puppoo and LOL at his Ch2So4 expression and the GREEN NECK TIE. ahahahahahahahahaha

LOL @ Sialkoti Khoti … Oops, I mean ‘Khota’ 😉

And, how Sali Bhagat knows that Malik is a ‘puppy’ … Oops, I mean Puppoo ? 😉

Whats happening to my ‘typing’ today. 😆

    On Mongoose Bat …

Well thanks for the comments on Mongoose bat, it made interesting reading.

Actually, this Mongoose bat is a version of shorter bats being used by the training coaches for giving catching practices to their players. One of my college is into this cricket coaching and he confirmed that they had been using this short-bat (as they call it) for long time and sometime even when a normal bat is broken or damaged, it is turned into a short-bat for practice purpose by many trainers.

But now this new company have patented it and with some minor changes reintroduced it as a new thing. Plus, reportedly, Hayden has received a huge amount to promote this new Mongoose bat.

As IPL really is ‘masala-cricket’, I think anything and I mean practically anything goes.

On Pink-balls, well no, I was not able to watch the pink-ball in action, but my brother who watched the game was telling me that it doesn’t differentiate much from an ordinary white kookaburra. Although under lights the colour pink also more or less looks like white ball but they say it is more clearly visible then white kookaburra.

Finally, I agree with you that Sania is more smarter then Malik, but is she not the one who is making a ‘third-class’ choice? Then how come she can be smarter ?? 😉

On other thoughts, I know Sania had some issues with religious mullahs in India for her playing tennis in half-naked dresses, I wonder what the Pakistani public will think if she continued playing in Pakistan?

All said and done, you as well as Khansaheb will have to agree that no matter how bad a player Malik is, but he sure has some charm with girls. I mean first an engagement with one Indian girl, then flirting with Indian actress Siali Bhagat and now catching another Indian celebrity.

It seems in contrast with his cricketing performance, Malik is a better player on ‘phoren-pitches’ then our domestic grounds 😉

Hmmmmmmm third class choice? Yeah, you are right about that. But, most girls do that in India. 😀 That Siyali Bhagat as well as Padukone who was flirting with Dhoni and Yuvraj at the same time is another example. In India the celebrities always go after cricket players. Garry Sobers got a Chinglee called Anju Mahendru, Mohsin Khan got an actress whats her name, Reena Roy? Then Azhar uddin also got one. Graeme Smith has Slinky Minky attached to his tail. Imran Khan never liked Desi gals, so he got Jemima as his wife, and prior to that he had Sita as a keep and Emma Thompson as a date. So, there is no end to it, but none of these marriages last long. Sania said she will not play tennis after marriage, but Malak sab gave her ijaazat to play as long as she likes. NDTV was saying we have to wait and see whether Sania plays tennis for India or Pakistan? But, according to some other sources they both wanna live in Dubai. When she plays Dubai Open you should go and watch her 😉

As regards Mullahs not happy with Sania Mirza, actually they are very happy especially after seeing this photo.

    Salam all:

I’ve been away due to personal and work related reasons but I’ll try to contribute on Legslip time to time. Work is still busy as we are designing highway, bridge shelf projects in the anticipation of Obama’s Stimulus funds round 2 for this fiscal year. I’ve been skimming through Legslip time to time though.
On Pak cricket affairs, so much crap has happened in the last 10 months or so that it’s hard to digest especially the direction Pakistan cricket is heading to but no surprises either as it just reflects the direction of the country i.e. downhill. I’ve been disgusted by the way Yousuf and Younis are treated and with Younis’ resignation perhaps the last ray of light also went to oblivion. The only good news is the appointment of Afridi as the T20 captain but it seems he’ll be made scapegoat just like Yousuf if Pakistan cannot defend its title. This current team is only capable of paying T20 cricket and my fears are coming true that with the departure of Yousuf and Younis, Pakistan will find itself among the ranks of West Indies and Bangladesh.

    On Almighty Tendulkar and Lara

I sympathize with Lara for being the lone wolf in West Indies team at the end of his career and no doubt the guy was special. Tendulkar is gifted and has longevity and that’s why he piles up runs and records like no other. But fact of the mater is neither of them won a single world championship for their countries. I believe Gilchrist, Steve Waugh, and Inzamam delivered on the mega stage. Even Afridi lead Pakistan to a T20 title.

I see Munir and Omar but no Abdul? Where is he? Abdul if you are reading this I just wanted to let you know even though you are a Punjabi you act like a Pathan. Khansahab, Munir, and Javed on other hand act like Punjabis even though they are Pathans 😀

Celebrations galore in Sialkot. People and singing and doing bhangra on the news of their favourite, Shoaib Malak, getting married.

We wish the best to Shoaib Malik. However we feel sorry for Sania Mirza who deserved better 🙂 Samia is from an educated and sophisticated Hyderabadi family whereas Malak is paindoo

Earlier Sania Mirza apnay Buchpay kay Premi Sohrab say she got engaged with and then it fizzled out, its just like Malak’s earlier Hyderabadi marriage with Ayesha which he never acknowledges as a marriage. Malik ab Rustom-e-Hyderabad bunn nay chala hai.

should i say lucky shoaib or lucky shorab:D
sania deserves much more than this guy, inspite of her notUpTOTheMark recent performances.

you are right, both sania and shorab are from the Elite class in hyderabad. i dont know if they made this decision just because he is a celeb already. but again, there are lot more elite muslim bachelors in India. why not ZAK or I/Y pathan.

hope/wish they wont break it. these days Indian media is so much into celeb privy lives, Sania cannot afford to break it this time.i was joking with my friend, if they will move to india or pak, and we concluded dubai/europe is the better place.

The news about Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik really took me by surprise as i had no clue that they were upto something. Malak what a player!

I don’t know who is the luckier one here as besides the ban on Malik, Sania is not doing pretty well in Tennis as well and maybe in these times of financial trouble it is a good business venture for these two families to become one.

Javed, As regards critising Indian players I have no issues about it even I do that to so many of them it is just some of the other things you write which prompt me to reply 🙂

As for the Mongoose , I saw Hayden every time he used it and 2 out of 3 times he failed miserably. I am not very much in favour of it since a lot depends on the conditions for example under the lights if you are facing a bowler like Malinga then there is a very good chance that the ball could beat the Mongoose and hit the stumps no matter how good a batsmen you are.

All these stars and celebrities need each other to survive and be in the limelight so it is but natural that Cricket and Media personalities will hang out more with each other and every now and then if an actress or a model falls for a Cricketer than what is the problem? after all there are so many of them in the Tinsel-Town and not all of them are born and bred in India for example Sayani Bhagat and the more famous Katrina Kaif are from England and both of them made considerable efforts to improve their Hindi prior to entering Hindi Movies.

More often than not the media makes a mole of a mountain the best example is the case of Dhoni-Yuvraj-Deepika triangle where it is all fabricated by media with no element of truth in any of it. If all the stars and celebs were running after Cricket Stars than we would not have seen the likes of Dhoni, Yuvraj and others being single for so long. They want to be in the lime-light and there is no dearth of TV Channels in India who could easily buy them off for an occasional photo or for that matter any ‘seen-together’ activity.

For the last 2 matches of Bangalore everyone saw Deepika with Mallya’s Son so all we need is a jobless person Twittering or Blogging to start a Chain-Reaction and then a rumour becomes a story and facts get distorted. In fact I find all of it so confusing that I have adopted Gandhiji’s 3 Monkey formula:-

    See no EVIL
    Hear no EVIL
    Speak no EVIL!

  31. #31 by JAVED A. KHAN on March 31, 2010 - 2:41 AM

I think the Mongoose bat could be more suitable for shorter players like Tendulkar rather than a giant like Mathew Hayden. I agree with you that by the time he bends down to block a yorker from Malinga or Gul, the ball is through and through. But, for swinging and slogging it must be good as regards the length of the ball, the shorter blade is compensated by the long handle.

As regards Malak the Champoo, his fellow Sial-Khotiyan are dancing on the street, I wonder what they will do if he really gets married and brings her home? But, one thing I am sure about and that is, she will be a misfit in the Pakistani culture because she grew up in a different culture for her Dubai or elsewhere like Europe or North America would be fine. Malak is a khota he can adjust anywhere. Besides, she is more richer than Malak, she has already earned more than US$1.5 million in prize money. And, not to mention her class. Anyways, lets not give that idiot so much attention.

Yeah, why not ZAK or IK? Laikin Ghar ki murgi daal barabar wali baat hai.

    T H E O S S A …

Welcome back to the pavilion 😉

Is it really you or is it Javed Khan using your name to give us a 1st April Fool’s joke 😉

Nice to see you after such a lonnnnnnnnng time with some logical and rational comments as always.

I agree with you on Lara he was one of the greatest the game has ever produced and was a natural talent, but he came on a wrong time when the West Indian team was in doldrums and therefore we always see Lara in that same light. Whereas Tendulkar, even though have not helped India win any World Cup, but have definitely helped them in reaching number one position in Tests. Another point is that if Lara was playing for India and had all powerful BCCI and mighty and extra-robust Indian media behind him with over a Billion supporters, Lara could have been in a different league altogether.

Tendulkar definitely is Tendulkar, but Lara was not fortunate enough to have similar conditions (BCCI power, fans who treat you as god, money, strong-media, good team, facilities, etc.) as Tendlu.

Finally, your calling Abdul a Pathan is fine but are you suggesting that Javed Khan and Khansahib are acting like Punjabis ? What made you think that ? 😆

Mian sahib wanted to raise money for his party, and on being told that there was a fortune in horse racing, decided to purchase one and enter it in the races. However at the local auction, the going price for a horse was very high so he ended up buying a donkey instead. He figured that since he had it he might as well go ahead and enter it in the races. To his surprise, the donkey came in third! The next day the local paper said: “MIAN’S ASS SHINES “ Mian sahib was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and this time it won. The paper read: MIAN’S ASS OUT IN FRONT. His wife was so upset with this kind of publicity that she ordered Mian sahib not to enter the donkey in another race. The paper headline read: WIFE SCRATCHES MIAN’S ASS This was too much for Mrs. Mian. So she ordered Mian sahib to get rid of the donkey. Mian sahib decided to give it to Benazir. The paper headline the next day read: BENAZIR TAKES MIAN’S ASS. Followed by another on the next day: NOW BENAZIR HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN. All The opposition leaders got very upset at this kind of publicity. They informed Benazir that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for Rs.500. Next day the headline read: BENAZIR SELLS HER ASS FOR Rs. 500

This was too much for the Moulvis they protested against it and Benazir had to buy back the donkey and free the donkey in to the plains where it could run wild and free. Next day, the headline in the paper read: BENAZIR ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE. Benazir got shell shocked and mysteriously died the same day and was buried without any autopsy, and Pakistan, in the bargain PAKISTAN got the biggest Ass it had produced ASIF ZARDARI.

    Ayesha claims to have ‘Nikahnama

NEW DELHI: India’s Ayesha Siddiqi has claimed that she can produce the wedding certificate and other relevant documents to prove her relationship with Shoaib Malik.

In an interview with an Indian TV, Siddiqi said she was hurt by the revelations made by Shoaib and his family about her.

The allegations being leveled by the Shaoib’s family are totally baseless, the somber-looking lady said.

“Shoaib himself accepted of being married with me, she said, adding he had sent Rs500 as a Haq Mehr to me.” “I want to get a formal divorce from Shoaib Malik.”

To a question, Siddiqi said she was not in contact with Shoaib Malik anymore, adding they she had spoken to the cricketer for the last time in 2007.

She also made a stunning disclosure that wife of former Pakistan skipper Muhammad Yousuf know about their relationship.

“If Shoaib does not want to live with me. I am also not interested,” she added.

    Cricketers congratulate Malik, Sania

KARACHI: Current and former cricketers on Wednesday greeted all-rounder Shoaib Malik and his fiancee, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on their engagement, wishing the couple the very best in life.

Former captain Imran Khan congratulated the couple and wished them a happy union.

“My best wishes to you (Shoaib) and Sania and I pray both of you live a blessed life,” Imran said on a popular television show.

Other players, including Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal also expressed joy over the engagement news and wishes the couple a great future.

”I am happy for Shoaib and hope he lives a happy life. Sania is not only a good tennis player but a great person too and I am happy for both of them,” Afridi said.

Kamran, one of Shoaib’s closest friends, said he was not surprised by the announcement and was looking forward for the Valima (reception) in Lahore next month. “You can be sure the Lahorites will celebrate this occasion with great fanfare. It is a really good pairing,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Aussie ‘keeper and IPL team Deccan Chargers’ skipper Adam Gilchrist also congratulated Sania on the big day.

The skipper of the Hyderabad-based franchise offered his good wishes to Sania, who also belongs to the city, for her wedding on April 15. “I have read about their marriage in the papers. If you are in love, you should go for it. I wish them a happy married life,” Gilchrist said. – Agencies

Now, Shiv Sena attacks Sania; asks her to marry an Indian

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Friday flayed tennis star Sania Mirza for her decision to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, saying “had Sania’s heart been Indian, it wouldn’t have beaten for a Pakistani.”
“Henceforth, Sania will not remain an Indian. Had her heart been Indian, it wouldn’t have beaten for a Pakistani. If
she wished to play for India, she should have chosen an Indian life partner,” 84-year-old Thackeray said in an editorial in
    party mouthpiece Saamana.
“More than victories on tennis court, Sania became famous for her tight clothes, fashion and love affairs,”
    Thackeray alleged.
“More than her play, people’s attention was on her mannerisms,” he claimed.
The Shiv Sena supremo alleged that “for Shoaib, India is an enemy, not only in sports arena but also in the battlefield.
“We have heard that Shoaib has many affairs in India and has promised many girls he will marry them,” he said.
Thackeray also expressed surprise over the alacrity with which Sania’s family members were granted Pakistani visas.
“Getting a Pakistani visa is tough even for a singer like Lata Mangeshkar,” he said.
23-year-old Sania, who is the most successful woman tennis player from the sub-continent, will settle down with
28-year-old Shoaib in Dubai after their marriage on April 15 in Hyderabad.

Bal Thackeray is a MF Bastard, a real HaramZada who is dangling his feet in his Chita and still blabbering shit. I may make fun of Shoaib Malik marrying Sania Mirza, we all do but, everyone has the right to marry whomsoever they choose. I have concurred to newguys comment that she could have chosen ZAK or IKP instead of Paindoo Malik but, who is this BC Thackeray to say Sania Mirza’s heart is not Indian? When the Moulvi’s criticize her dress code everyone pounce on them by saying they have nothing better to do, what about this 86 year old bastard?

Siddiqui family turns heat on Shaoib Malik

Hyderabad, Apr 2 Problems threatened to snowball for Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik with the family of a girl he is said to have wedded here threatening to file an FIR with the police if he went ahead with the marriage to Sania Mirza without divorcing their daughter.

Ayesha, who claims to have married Shoaib in 2002, today circulated purported copies of ‘nikahnama’ to Pakistani and Indian television channels and poured her heart out on the break-up.

The ‘marriage’ certificate was shown by several Pakistani television channels and apparently contained the signatures of Shoaib in the column for the groom and the name of Maha Siddiqui in the column for the bride.

To add to his problems television channels showed clips of Shoaib’s 2004 interview in which he had admitted to marrying Ayesha, who he had said was living in Hyderabad.

Mr Siddiqui, the father of Ayesha Siddiqui revealed today that Malik had remarked to his family that he did not like “black” Hyderabadi girls.

They did not like Miandad because of his skin colour.

Imran Khan made a racist remark against African people by insulting Babar Ghouri.

And now Malik made a racist remark against Hyderabadi girs.

Shoaib Malik, the Akmal brothers, Asif, Salim Malik etc, all these people have dark complexion but I don’t know why they don’t look at themselves first? And what is wrong with having dark complexion?

Sania must not be allowed to play for India: Muthalik

Bangalore, Apr 2 (PTI): Slamming ace tennis player Sania Mirza for her decision to tie the knot with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, right wing outfit Sri Rama Sene today said she should not be allowed to play for India after her marriage.

“Once she ties the knot, Sania should not be allowed to play for India. Her decision is an insult to Indians,” Sene chief Pramod Muthalik told reporters here.

“Could Sania not find any eligible bachelor among 100 crore Indians, which includes 15 crore Muslims? It is India which is responsible for her fame and by choosing a Pakistani cricketer as her life partner, she is insulting all Indians. We totally oppose the move”, he said.

PCB rejects Younis demand to explain his ban

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday turned down former skipper Younis Khan’s demand to give explanation for the indefinite ban imposed on him for indiscipline.

Younis, through his lawyer Ahmed Qayyum, sent a notice to the PCB last week asking it to explain the charges on the basis of which the board banned him. The board sent its reply to the senior player making it clear that it was not compelled to give any explanation for the ban.

“We have informed Younis in our reply that he must first file a proper appeal against the ban and then we will provide him with the justification for imposing the ban on him, “PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said.

“Once he makes a formal appeal then we will follow due process of law and send him our detailed reply and he can decide if he wants to pursue the matter with the appellate tribunal we have formed to look into any appeals by players recently disciplined by the board,” he added.

Qayyum said Younis had every right to know on what grounds he was banned. “In the letter sent to Younis, the board failed to give clear reasons that prompted them to take such an action against my client that is why we sent them notice,” he said.

The PCB inquiry committee, that recommended the bans and fines on seven players, has accused Younis and another former captain Muhammad Yousuf of creating problems in the team with their personal differences and causing disharmony in the team.

Younis, ironically, was not part of the team that played Tests in New Zealand and Australia and Yousuf led the side in his absence.

Whats the BIG DEAL if Sania Mirza marries Shoaib Malik? Is interracial and bi-cultural marriages a crime? There must be hundreds of famous cases and thousands of unknown cases such as these.

Arun Nayar married to Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley

Rajiv Gandhi married to Sonia Gandhi

Khair-un-Nissa was an Indian Hyderabadi noblewoman who married the British Lieutenant Colonel James Achilles Kirkpatrick in 1805.

Thousands of Bengali workers from India married British women in the early 1950’s and sixties and settled down in the UK. They bring back their wives and children back to India and are known as NRI’s.

Why didn’t Bal Thackery criticize Sonia and Liz Hurley?
He is a big mouth blabbering bastard who spills venom against Muslims of India. Sometime back when Bal Thackeray was gasping for breath, two Muslims doctors from Lilavati Hospital-Dr Jaleel Parkar and Dr Samad Ansari-rushed to his house. The duo administered him medical help at Matoshri and then brought him to the hospital’s ICU in an ambulance and continued to look after him for weeks and months. Why does he hate the Muslims so much? These are his exact words:

“They [Muslims] are spreading like a cancer and should be operated on like a cancer. The… country should be saved from the Muslims and the police should support them [Hindu Maha Sangh] in their struggle just like the police in Punjab were sympathetic to the Khalistanis.”

PCB rejects Younis demand to explain his ban………. The PCB wants a FORMAL APPEAL

khansahab you are a lawyer and I am sure you will know more about it, when a party known as appellant or petitioner, puts down his grievances and argues through written briefs and or, oral arguments that errors committed by the governing body which could be an organization or a lower court and the justifications were sufficiently serious to invalidate the outcome is a formal appeal.

Does it have to be on a Rs500 BOND PAPER ? From what I know, an appeal is the procedure by which a case is taken back to the “appellee” or “respondent” or, even to court for its review and possible reversal of the respondent’s decision. It doesn’t have to be processed through a lawyer, the appellant can represent his own case. I don’t think there is any law which bars or prohibits an individual (the appellant) to proceed or represent himself and asking for a reversal decision.

There is a difference between Practice and Law. In the Banking industry some ignorant blokes confuse them and call the practice of banking as the banking law. Which is not correct. For example a cheque is a bill of exchange payable on demand. It has to be in writing, it has to be addressed to the bank, it is a signed written order directing that a specified sum of money be paid to a specified person. It doesn’t have to be a printed cheque. It can be a hand written note and by law the bank cannot refuse the payment to the beneficiary.

So, Why The F the PCB is insisting on a FORMAL APPEAL? An appeal in writing is a formal written appeal, in some cases even oral agreements are considered valid. But, that is another matter. The PCB should get out of their caves and see there is a whole world out there, which is very different from the BUTT world.

I think what the PCB mean, is that they want Younis Khan to appoint a legal representative who will appeal to some appellate tribunal against the ban. Younis is asking the PCB the reasons for his banning decision; he is not appealing against the decision. PCB wants him to do the latter.

However, the whole situation is quite stupid, because Younis needs to know what the reasons are for this unusual decision, and only then can he have any grounds for appeal. Ijaz Butt is running the PCB so this lack of logic is unsurprising.

I was watching Mr Siddiqui’s interview and he got very emotional and said that Malik has committed Zina with his daughter. He also used abusive language against Malik and cursed him. He said that Malik is running after money and will do anything for money. He was making Malik out to be some kind of monster. I wonder how true his statements are.

  59. #59 by JAVED A. KHAN on April 2, 2010 - 11:54 PM

Did Malik commit Zina on telephone? Because, as far as the previous version of his marriage was made public, it was reported that he married her on telephone. Although Malik denies that and say it was only engagement and not Nikah. Malik also denies that the photo of Aisha was of another girl. But, that is wrong because Malik met Aisha in Dubai and knew that the Siddiqui family is rich but, the girl is not so beautiful. Besides, Malik’s parents were not in favour him being a Punjabi with all his Punjabi blood running in his veins should not marry a Hyderabadi girl. However, Malik did go to the girls house and not just him but, he took Inzamam, Yousuf and Bob Woolmer too for a dinner. But, there was no news about Rukhsati or the girl being consummated hence there is no question of any Zina. Malik is stupid, he should have signed the divorce papers and settled the matter then and there instead of dragging it till today and who knows what the repercussions would be now and before he gets married with Sania Mirza. There are many a slip between the cup and the lip. Kaheen Malak saab Pehlay ki terha Pyasay na rehjain, Khaya Piya kuch nahee Glass tora 12 annay lo wali baat ho jai.

In case of Younus you can say that he wants to know the reason of the ban. But, in case of Shahid Afridi where it is clear that he has asked them to reverse the decision of imposing Rs. 3M fine, they said the same thing before i.e., file a proper appeal. So, based on that I was saying that if someone has asked them in writing to give explanation or to waive the penalties it is a bloody APPEAL in writing.

    Khansahab …

Ab Aap Shoaib Malik Aur Sania Mirza Ki Jaan Chhornay Kay Kitnay Laingay ?? 😉

I mean we all had fun and a comment or two, now let them go … their personal life is not something to be discussed on a “Cricket” web site, and that too so seriously and in fullest possible details. You are converting LS into a Geo TV on this Malik/ Sania storey.

Forget about black colour, racism, Imran Khan’s comments, dark-skin, etc. and please try to talk about love, peace, hormony, trust, flowers, rainbows, …..

  62. #62 by khansahab on April 3, 2010 - 8:15 AM

    Munir sahab

We need to get to the bottom of why so many controversies are associated with Shoaib Malik- if he has been creating disunity, settling personal scores in the team and if he is now the reason for destroying this girl’s life, it should be unravelled.

I AM trying to talk about love and harmony because I am denouncing the attitude of Imran Khan, Malik and such people who are so colour-sensitive. In the case of Malik we don’t know for certain whether he made that racist comment but in the case of Imran Khan, it is on record. Why are you making me out to be someone who is promoting bitterness, where as I am trying to eradicate it?

Mr Siddiqui said that Malik “stayed with” his daughter and committed Zina.

    Khansahab …

Malik is banned and out of the team for a year, at least it is so for now. He is NOT in the squad so can we spare him and not give him any undue importance ?

Secondly, I surely have sympathy for that girl (Aayesha) and her family, but what kind of a father will try to associate a word ‘Zina’ with her daughter adn that too in media ? This family had been quite for sometime now, but as soon as the news of Malik/ Sania came out they started their ‘Biyaan-baazi’. Can they ‘force’ Malik to accept their daughter in marriage, if he doesn’t want to ? I am not supporting what Malik did, but what they are doing to themselves is also WRONG.

This family is after Malik, earlier Veena Malik was after Asif … can’t we see a pattern here. I mean media attention, money, popularity, etc.

Thirdly, Sania Mirza is not stupid and she knows her good and bad better then you, me or anyone else. If Sania and her family are ready to accept Malik inspite of all his stories in India then why and how can we stop them ?

Lastly, we can not ‘eradicate’ bitterness by blaming, humiliating, and bringing a bad name to someone. In case of Imran, Malik and whoever else there is something called … FORGIVE AND FORGET, which can be a good thing to ‘eradicate’ bitterness.

“We need to get to the bottom of why so many controversies……..”

khansahab if you wish to go to the bottom of controversies then, the mother of all the bottoms is possessed by Ijaz Butt and there you will find all kinds of controversies.

The moment I heard about the Hyderabad/Sialkot Open Championship especially after Malak trying to serve his balls in Sania’s court, the media will go for a second set about his match with Ayesha, which was earlier tied at deuce but, it was unsettled due to Malik’s stupidities and, now it will last for a long time i.e., even if Malik wins the Cup this time, the stories about his suspicious bowling action will continue. Reportedly Malik has also serviced Ayesha but, the matter was not reported to the third umpire hence it doesn’t hold water.

Like, Imran Khan asked Jemima after his wedding night, Darling how was my shot in the deep fine leg, did you like it? She replied, it was good but you are not the first one to play that shot for me in that region. Likewise, Malik will ask Sania, how did you find my googly? She will say; MOONMalak, are you talking about that low pitched, slow and deceptive delivery that you bowled at the center court? I could have forcefully returned it with my backhand but, just to keep your “Bharam” I simply let your balls go through the big gap without any grunt and that is because, like Ayesha Siddiqi, I am not a novice in this game! 😀

    Shoaib reaches at Sania’s residence
    Saturday, 3 Apr, 2010 11:44 pm

ISLAMABAD : cricket star and former captain Shoaib Malik reached on Saturday at the house of his wife- to-be Sania Mirza, India’s top tennis star.

In a latest video captured by the media, Shoaib was seen standing at the terrace of Sania’s bungalow situated in Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad, where he made a surprise and unexpected visit to meet his fiance.

Shoaib’s surprise visit came amidst controversy brewing between the Maliks and the Siddiquis, who claim their daughter Ayesha got married to Shoaib Malik in 2002.

Shoaib Malik was caught on camera speaking over the phone on the balcony of Sania Mirza’s residence. Shoaib, Sania Mirza and her mother are seen together at the tennis ace’s residence in Hyderabad.

Sources said that Malik, who arrived in the city last night, 11 days ahead of the wedding scheduled on April 15, to workout the details, even as reports indicated that the venue would be shifted to a neutral venue most likely Dubai.

Earlier, reports suggested that Malik’s family has been granted visas by the Indian High Commission from April 6 onwards.

Barrister Farooq Hasan said Siddiqui’s family decided to file and pursue case in Pakistan against the marriage and he has been contacted for the purpose.

IF it was not Sania Mirza, no one would have paid that much attention to Paindoo Malak’s would be marriage in a few days from now.

From Imran Khan to Shah Mahmood Qureshi the FM of Pakistan has congratulated him because of Sania. Neither the media nor us on the blog would have written much about this marriage. Poor Malak’s cricket career is on the sidelines and he may even forget to file the “formal” appeal within the deadline period.

If anyone remembers, Monica Seles was a tennis player who use to make a two-tone annoying sound when she use to play a shot. Servicing, back-hand, front-hand, any shot, even when she played a drop-shot she produced this irritating two-tone sound like … Huunn – Aahan.

Monica explained in one of her interviews that she lost to a girl in school who use to make such sounds and she felt very irritated, so much so that her game was affected because of her frustration with the opponent’s shrill sounds. So after that, Monica herself started making this two-tone sound to mentally disturb her opponents.

Therefore, it was always very distasteful and disturbing to watch Monica’s games because of her unpleasant sound effects.

Once a journalist, who probably got pissed with her noise-making performances, wrote that Monica makes so much loud noises that I pity her neighbors who will have sleepless nights after her marriage.

Good that Sania doesn’t make any such sounds while playing 😉

    Commercialism of IPL …

Following are a few of the comments on cricinfo page for the 34th IPL game between KKR and KXIP.

Dave from Australia: “Viewers are turning off IPL, that’s why it’s not shown live. It’s because we can’t stand the mid-over commercials. We can’t stand commentary being replaced with 3 hours sales pitch. If we wanted all that then I would just pick-up the phone and chat to a telemarketer.”

JJ: “I agree with Dave from Australia and many others. The sudden interruption of the enjoyment is taken away every minute. The constant flashing can also affect your eyes, shame!”

And Sniper: “The telecast is literally a pain to the viewers. It is just one long commercial interspersed with a little bit of cricket.”

Praveen Goyal: “Is there a message we can convey a message to Lalit Modi directly? he is just killing IPL with so many advertisements. C’mon, have some standards. I prefer to follow it here then watch it on the tube. I can’t bear the moments, maximum, catches and what not. Phew!”

KM: “JJ, Sniper, Dave and many others. Please don’t watch the IPL, if it’s so painful. And if you are not interested, then you shouldn’t even be on this page…”
Cricinfo replies to KM … KM, as they said, they like the cricket and not the hawking, and hence they are following the “cricket” here.

AD: “Praveen isn’t the only one who prefers cricinfo over watching IPL live. The level of commentary and advert will make IPL implode from within.”

M Suresh: “Cricinfo is blatantly anti IPL, probably jealous of its growth or based on the site’s affiliation with ICC. The IPL fever in India is real and the ads or bad commentary are just minor blips in an otherwise great product. The IPL fever is there to stay and grow! India has taken to it like anything!! So point out the improvements but do not have an agenda to kill the product!!! Cricinfo itself knows the success of IPL and its telecast as well despite the commentary. You have to realize that IPL is a product/ brand!!”
Cricinfo replies to M Suresh … Right, we learn something new about ourselves everyday! And hence we manufacture user names and fake feedback? Thanks Suresh.

And here is the best one …

Mike: “Can Lalit Modi please tell me why are we being shown the indian ads here in australia when not one of those products is available here? Doesn’t make any sense.”

When I wrote that comment about Sania telling Malak, “I simply let your balls go through the big gap without any grunt” of course, I had Monica Seles in mind and grunt in tennis is always a direct reference to Monica’s grunt. AND who is annoyed by her grunt? Come on that is the main charm of watching Monica’s game and whosoever says that it is “very distasteful and disturbing to watch Monica’s games because of her unpleasant sound effects.” is like:

Aap Bay pahra hain jo motaqad-e-Mir Nahi

I like Monica’s double handed grip with a double grunt. I also liked Gabriella Sabatini’s walking style which was pigeon toed, more like John Wayne ! 😀 And, also liked Stephi Graff’s calm and cool temperament but, imo Navratilova (whose R needs to be replaced with the second V in her spellings) should have played against men only.

    Miandad-Akram row heating up

LAHORE: Two of Pakistan’s great cricketers and former skippers Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram were heading for a showdown with each of them giving heated comments against other.

Akram ignited the row recently when he told the media that some former players were responsible for damaging the country’s cricket and specifically questioned Miandad’s loyalty to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

“I have all my regards for Javed bhai. But then when I see him ridiculing the PCB after taking a salary every month, I wonder if he has any loyalty left in him?” he said.

Miandad, who is presently Director-General in the Board, was naturally not amused with Akram’s comments on him.

“One can’t become father of his father. If I open my lips then cricketers of the post 1996 era would not be able to speak a word,” he said.

Miandad, however, said that he would try to approach Akram to have his version on the issue.

“If he (Akram) upholds the reported statement then I would also respond and let me tell you that after my response Wasim would not be able to even face me,” said Miandad.

Ironically although it was Miandad who discovered and provided Akram his first opportunity to play for Pakistan in 1983-84, the two have never really got along.

In 1993, Wasim masterminded a silent revolt against Miandad’s captaincy through the cricket Board and replaced him as captain despite successful tours of England and Australia under Miandad.

“I have a lot of regards for Wasim’s abilities but he should choose his words carefully before making statements,” Miandad said.

  79. #79 by JAVED A. KHAN on April 5, 2010 - 2:28 AM

Cricketing abilities is one thing and loyalties with the team and the country is another matter and Wasim Akram has no loyalties. Wasim Akram is a choora, he has no loyalties for his country or even for his own family. His only GOD is money and his loyalties is with his Masters who pay him. It is obvious to everyone that he practically lives in India just for money. He is the only MF bastard who is a Pakistani in the current IPL tournament as a bowling coach to KKR. He is the most corrupt sports person in the history of Pakistan. He cannot match Javed Miadad in any respect, Miandad is one of the most honest and dedicated cricketer of Pakistan. Can’t Miandad say about the wrong doings of his colleagues? When others do that, they usually say after leaving the organization but, not while they are still working for the organization. If Miandad has spoken against the PCB, Wasim Akram should know that it takes guts and courage to speak the truth, he is not Ijaz Butt’s yes man or anyone else’s chamcha for that matter. He speaks through his feelings and not through his mind. He speaks the truth. Like Mark Twain said, “Always speak the truth, so that you don’t have to worry remembering what you have said earlier.”

    Javed Miandad to Wasim Chakram.

Kuchh Bhee Naan Kaha, Aur Keh Bhee Gaaye
Kuchh Kehtay Kehtay Reh Bhee Gaaye

Javed Miandad is the most honest and loyal player Pakistan could ever have. Plus he surely is the best cricketing brain our our times. It’s unfortunate PCB is keeping him off the field, he belongs out their on the cricket ground.

    Javed Khan …

I don’t follow ladies tennis as much as you seems to do, but my favourite was Sabatini and that was not because of her game but rather her hispanic looks 😉

Stephi was graceful and calm as you rightly pointed and there are a few others also, but some of these ladies are more manly-type like Martina, Serena, and another French … I am not remembering her name now.

I think since these ladies need a lot of stamina and power in tennis, they do bodybuilding, vigorous-exercising, take hormone-boosting medications and special power packed foods, which ultimately turns them into some kind of super-women and the end results are that they become lesbians.

    On IPL …

Well in spite of Gayle’s 33 runs in one over (highest ever in IPL) KKR lost the game even after scoring 200 and that too to KXIP, the last tem on the table who had 2 points in 8 games.

Where is Omer Adman these days, is he having exams too ?

Yes, I have been watching the whole Malak-Siddiqui episode with interest. Malik’s passport has now been detained by the Indian authorities and he is not allowed to leave India.

Ayesha has filed a complaint with the police under which Shoaib has been registered to have committed 3 statutory offences, one being cheating, another being cruelty. I forget which is the third one.

The most damaging statement to Malik is that Ayesha has claimed he offered her Rs 100 crores to keep her mouth shut, she also said she received death threats. She has said she shared intimate moments with him and that she suffered miscarriage.

I am no one to judge who is lying and who is telling the truth but the Siddiquis have been consistent with their statements throughout whereas Malik keeps changing his statements.

I hope you are not talking about La Divine Suzane of France? Anyways, how about Svetlana Kuznetsova? Btw, only Martina Navatilora was a lesbo rest were not.

Khansahab Sharapova looks sexykova in that polka dot bikini, but you cannot compare such photos with those who are wearing proper tennis attire. For e.g. .Jelena Jankovic in other dress showing cleavage looks different from her tennis walay poses. As regards Shoaib Malik’s arrest or held in police custody to be more precise, that idiot deserves it. What was the need to go there before or even at any other time? Especially when he knows that he has problems with the Siddiquis and going there was like “Aa Bail Mujhay Maar.” Like I wrote above, “there are many a slip between the cup and the lip.” Who knows Sania Mirza and her family gets pissed off by this whole episode which is starting off from the wrong foot and it could leave a bad taste in the mouth and they decide to call this marriage OFF?

Nai Faqeer ko bheek ki jaldi
is an expression in Urdu which is very apt for him. He thought that Sania Mirza is a lottery and he wanted to grab it with both hands and went to Hyderabad, it was like throwing a stone in a beehive and regretting later. He could have sent his brother and mother to negotiate the deal or use telephone to discuss and change the location for nikah. If he could marry Ayesha on telephone he should have persuaded Sania and her family to change the location by trying to explain them the possibilities of this shitty situation in which he is knee deep now.

As regards Ayesha Siddiqui’s claim of $1,000,000 bribe, it sounds pretty trivial to me, I don’t think Malik has that kinda money to throw away for her. This is all BS she is lying. I am also not very sure about their sexual relationship because this is a new thing that they are coming up with, previously they never mentioned about any physical relationship except for telephone marriage and asking for a simple divorce. Now, they have gone beyond the limits. My sympathies with Chow Aib Mullick for his chutiyapays.

Malik should have come out with the truth at the first opportunity. Why is he making roundabout and contradictory statements? If Ayesha Siddiqui is lying, then surely Malik has no reason to lie. By lying and making inconsistent statements he is weakening his own case.

It shows what kind of person he is. Whether his case has legal merit or not, he is not a straightforward person, it seems. His paindoo nature is coming out in this way.

Nasir Jamshed caught cheating in exam

Lahore: In another rather embarrassing episode for Pakistan cricket, national team`s opening batsman Nasir Jamshed has landed up in police custody after being caught cheating in his secondary school examinations today.

Officials said that Nasir was caught red handed while cheating in the English paper of the class tenth examinations with the help of three of his friends, Habibullah, Ghulam Mustafa and Zia-ul-Haq.

“The invigilator at the examination centre on Lawrence road immediately informed the police who have registered a case against Nasir for cheating under sections 3 and 420,” a police official said.

Nasir, 20, has played 12 one-day internationals for Pakistan and made his last appearance against Sri Lanka in Dambulla in August last year. He had been dropped from the team due to fitness and form issues.

But if he really is lying, then why did he go to India ? Nobody in his right mind will do something like that unless he is true.

Moreover, that lady Ayesha is now saying that she had a miscarriage, WTF. It’s like everyday she and her family is coming out with one new storey.

BTW, have you seen Ayesha’s picture, and please tell me honestly will you accept someone looking like for marriage ? I would not. (with all respect).

Malik is surely not beautiful but he is young and a national cricketer, how could he accept her ? I think she most probabally sent someone eles’s picture to trap Malik.

Anyways, in all this the Indian as well as Pakistani media is having lot of fun.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs has ordered the Pakistani Ambassador to provide full assistance to Shoaib Malik and get him out of India. Sania Mirza has also addressed the media to stop spreading rumours and she has cleared the air that she knows everything and has full faith in Shoaib Malik.

What an idiot this Nasir Jamshed is. I mean he is 20 years old in class tenth and cheating? That tells a lot about morality standerds of these cricketers. Shoaib Malik is in big shit he maried that girl or not, but he shouldnt had gone to india. But i think that girl ayesha is lyin caus on mariage certificate the girls name is maha and that ayasha is claiming that her nick name is maha now who put nick names on mariage certificates and the way that family is talking about thier girls relations with malik in public also tells a lot about them. Good to see Sania standing by her future husband in press conference but hope that that paindoo malik dnt mess every thing up.

Nasir Jamshed is 20 years old and still in class 10th? Reminds me of Pakistani actor Mohammad Ali who was almost 50 years old and in every second movie he used to come running towards his mother with a newspaper in his hand and screaming, “Ammi jaan mai nay BA pass ker liya hai.” Budda Ghora 50 saal ka aur har BA pass kiya! I wonder how many of the Pakistani cricket team players are educated, rather Matric Pass or High School Graduates?

Sania is addressing the media in English and Shoaib Malik is so reluctant to speak English and talking to them in Urdu. His brother Imran Malik b4 leaving Lahore airport for Hyderabad Deccan, he said : Shoaib kay liyeh dua kerain agar wo RIGHT PAY hain tou wo kamiyaab hongay! …….. LOL @ right pay.

LOL @ Firdous Ashaq Awan, Minister of Population Welfare spoke on Duniya TV and she said, , Mai Sialkot say hoon aur may khudd Hyderabad Deccan jaari hoon “Braaat Lay kay” aur khudd apni BaaBee Sania ko lay ker awaangee, Sania SialKot ki izzat hai aur Fakr-e-Pakistan hai. ………………………. Wah, Lux kya scene hai? hahaha. 😀

She also said, “if the Indian media is degrading Malak then Pakastan media must sport Malak.”

LOL @ Sialkot ki izat i dnt knw where this izat is going to b when sania wil wear short skirt and tight shirt n will run in court up n down izat ka to janaza hi nikal jae ga. But guys dnt u think its all going out of hands now even pakistans trade union president some memon guy is also getting involved and threatening to bycot indian goods if indian police wil arest malak. All this is happening cause of this idiot maliks stupidity he should had settled this matter long ago.

Javed A Khan yeh imran malak kis ke right pe ki baat kar raha hai Sania Ke right pe ya phir ayesha ke right pe ki but one thing if shoaib had realy maried ayesha his choice is very poor the woman luks lyk a aunty and nt even prety sexy aunty. I m nt trying to b judgementle but thats what its luklyk.

  102. #102 by JAVED A. KHAN on April 5, 2010 - 10:10 PM

Malak was saying on TV that, when he started chatting with Ayesha on the Internet he was only 18 years old…….. munn munni si jaan …. and now that he has matured LOL … will he ever mature? ….. he is asking Ayesha, “Chupp nay walay saamnay Aa Chupp Chupp kay mera Jee na jalaa…….” well, he is saying “why are you hiding behind the camera come “fawad and sapeek” I am hear standing in front and ready to ciliar avery thing.”

Guys, like I said before, if this was not Sania Mirza no one would have paid any attention to this marriage. And, Ayesha’s parents are getting a bit weird now, first by saying he had illicit relationship with her, how can they call it as illicit relationship when on the other hand they are the ones claiming he married her on telephone and signed the nikah nama? Secondly, we never heard b4 that the two of them got together except that Malik went to their house with Bob Woolmer, Inzamam, Razzaq and others for a dinner. To say that she had a miscarriage is a bit too much, I never thought they will stoop so low in an attempt to prevent his marriage from Sania. Angoor Khuttay Hain.

Also, Malik offered a million dollar to shut her up. First of all Malak does not have that kind of money, even if he has, he is not such a fool to offer a million dollar to shut up someone’s mouth, this is a bloody open secret and now Sania has cleared the air by saying she knows everything and she has full faith in Malik. If Mian BV razi tou kya keray Qazi? In Hyderabadi it is Khazi. 😀

Btw, according to one Hyderabadi person here he claims to have talked to Sania’s family members and they are preparing an elaborate and sumptuous menu for her wedding and the menu is like:

Lukmian (kinda meat patties as starters)
    Bagharay Baingan
    Mirchaon Ka Salan
    Tomato ka Kut
    Dumm Ka Keema
    Chicken 65
    Naan, Sheermal
Two types of Biryani, traditional hyderabadi biryani and kucchay gosht ki biryani
Qoobani ka meetha and Double Ka meetha….

Imagine Malik will become a “Khatta Khaoo” LOL 😀

I dunno, I have not seen Ayesha’s photo but, they are showing on TV and I am @ work so can’t watch TV but, there is Duniya TV on the Internet and they showed some clips of Imran Malik, Shoaib Malik and Sania addressing the media. And, as far as I am concerned it would be too bad if she stops wearing mini skirts on the center court after her marriage. Since she will be in Dubai, there neither the Indian Mullahs, or Balls Thakery or Pakistani Mullas have any jurisdiction. Munir kay mazay ho gaye! He will go to the Dubai Tennis circuit and wait for her to come out. 😀

    Munir sahab

There has been a lot of bad blood between the Siddiqui and Malak families clearly. Malik is taking revenge on them by marrying in Hyderabad and that too with probably the hottest and sexiest Indian Muslim woman outside the film industry. By that I don’t mean I consider Sania to be attractive because I do NOT, but I am speaking in terms of relativity.

Yes I have seen Ayseha’s picture but, whereas it is improbable a cricketer will marry someone like that, it is not impossible. Firstly, Malik was a newbie in international cricket when he “married” this girl. He could not bowl, he could not bat and his fielding was OK. Secondly, a lot of Punjabi people marry looking at family background rather than the person. Her family background is very attractive to someone like Malik who has a Sialkot soul but wants a “hip” and modern, sophisticated lifestyle.

I attended a wedding recently where the groom is a typical paindoo, looks, sits and talks like a paindoo. Both bride and groom are Punjabi, the girl is born and brought up in UK, is from a much better educated family and has hot and sexy looks. Whereas the guy is fresh from Lahore, I am telling you he is the definition of “paindoo”. I have been to dozens of weddings where there is this inequality in terms of looks/education/sophistication/wealth between the families but people still get married. Whereas, from observation I have noticed Urdu Speaking people look at equality and compatibility more. I am not saying one preference is superior to the other, these are just ways people live their lives.

Anyway, although I would be surprised Malik chose to “marry” this girl, I don’t think it’s impossible.

To answer your question whether I would marry someone like Ayesha, the answer is no. But here I am implicitly admitting I am a shallow person who regards looks highly. However, again the husband and wife need to be equal and compatible. If I looked as unattractive as Malik then maybe I would not have many qualms marrying someone like that. Who the hell is Malik to call her ugly? She is only slightly more ugly than him.

MF Ijaz Butt is ruining the cricket. Pakistan is a laughing stock because of Butt and his leadership.

Why have they lifted Malik’s ban? WTF? Why can’t they ever stick to one decision?

I urge the people of Lahore to infiltrate the PCB’s offices, drag Butt out to the streets and throw him out.

Haven’t you heard that lifting the ban is a MARRIAGE GIFT (shaadi ka tohfa) for Shoaib Malik. He is one of the privileged players whose ban has been lifted without an appeal.

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza’s marriage is the most hyped wedding so far to take place. We have created a new thread on this subject because of the fact that it is the most hot topic these days. In India and Pakistan its stealing the headlines, In Pakistan, Zardari’s news was after SHOANIA news. So, lets move forward and comment there. Thanks.
